This week the Church Explorer takes you to Berkshire and St James Church Leckhampstead. I decided to visit the church after noticing it was one on my map that I had not been to. Looking at the church I could see it was relatively new so on looking up the history I found there was very little. The church was built in 1858/60 though there was one built back in 1050 as a chapel way found at Chaple Farm about I Km east of the church.

I was pleased to see a cast iron marker in very good condition

There was only one memorial I could see along with more bible verse which was at the back of the church

What a well-designed church. Rather Arts and Crafty - all those brick patterns inside save it from being austere and make it very interesting and pretty. Some very pretty stained glass too.
