Just inside the churchyard, the bell tower being the most unusual one around
The Gothic looking porch
East end
The north side view of the church
From a more north westerly view
The old entrance to the bell tower
Headstops and a sundial and what I think looks like a massdial
South view from near the wall
The churchyard over to the west boundary
To the west from the path
Over the east side
Headstones and tombs in the churchyard
Looking north west
Along the north side of the church
Obelisk type monument and a commonwealth war grave of Private J Brooks
Headstone of differing ages
Another view of the west end churchyard looking north
The porch
Inside ready to go in
Looking down the nave to the chancel
Moving down a bit
The altar and the fascinating 14th century stone reliquary with an openwork tabernacle restored in wood.
Altar and candle holders
Looking back to the rood screen and nave
Organ with well work seat
The pipes
Choir stalls
Pulpit and sounding board
View form the pulpit
This is a Tudor wall monument with the brass missing belonging to Lady Catherine Gordon,
Early English sedilia and piscina
Candelabra
Floor tombs in a bad way
Some of the wall memorials in the church
This one a little more interesting though the inscription has gone
More interesting features including the skull of the previous memorial
This is north aisle chapel with it's screen
Inside
The tomb of John Golafre
On top he lays with his armour on
Look down to see his mortal rotting cadaver
In truth this is not the only one around as there is another in Burford which I missed and another in Ewelme church
The monument has seen better days and in need of restoration
Coat of arms on one of the tombs in the chapel
These two dating back to the 1600's
The coat of arms on the top right is the odd one out as the other two photos relater to the Roll of Honour
In the chapel is a blocked up doorway that probable too you to a rood loft

Quite a beautiful church!
Thank you so much for the lovely snowdrop photo - what a beautiful display. Such an interesting church - the cadaver tomb is rather macabre! I don't think I've seen one quite like that although I have read about them. Super photos and tour of the church. Thank you.
The tombs and memorials are interesting especially the figure in armour. The cadaver tomb is rather gruesome. I've visited Ewelme and Burford but didn't see similar I don't suppose we'll return so an interesting sight at this church at Fyfield. Thanks for the link to Ewelme. We stopped at Swyncombe Church on our way back north and saw the carpets of snowdrops and aconites in flower in the churchyard. I'll be posting photos soon. A peaceful week to you and yours Bill.
What an interesting church with some unusual carved pieces- the one with the horns and ribbons on especially. The Golafre tomb very interesting too. Connections with the Royal family not to be sniffed at!
Yes a lot nicer that I remembered
I thought you would appreciate them. Cadaver tombs are quite macabre, I was quite shocked the first one I saw
The Ewelme one is quite hard to see through the fretwork I only managed to get my hand in and the compact camera I was using. The iphone should be easier
Churches seem to hold a lot of interesting items to see a lot I don't notice till I look at the photos
Thank you for recording what you see and for The Church Explorer blog Bill. Bless you.
You can definitely tell it's Norman and I like how clean and well looked after it is inside.
Some very interesting structures and carvings. Thanks for the detailed tour!
So fascinating. I love traveling with you online to see these churches, and I think I'd spend hours in the graveyards.

I do love old churches, the craftsmanship, the stories behind them, the windows, and brousing through the old cemetary. Not sure about the rotting cadivar though! Enjoy your week, happy travels, I am visiting you through Mosaic Monday.
Billy - you always do just a fabulous job of documenting the beauty and history of these churches. And I am so jealous to see all those snowdrops!
You and your phone got great shots! I don’t know why someone would go to the trouble to create the “mortal rotting cadaver” or display it in a church.
Wow, this Church is a treasure. I admire the wooden celing
... thank you being part of
MosaicMonday
The tower is a very interesting one. That tomb is very interesting, but also rather scary!
Stunning structures - thanks so much for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
Wow, you have so many stunning photos! I love to look at churches too. Sometimes I photograph them, but there is just something about their beauty. I have also photographed tombstones, to which someone commented how morbid, but I find beauty in them as well. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos! The intricate details of the past whether a tombstone or not are just alluring.
