These photos were taken back in 2015 and I seem to have forgotten to post this small chapel which is one of the best kept ones around the area. The chapel was founded in 1834 and from what I have seen when driving past does have an active congregation who also keep the place maintain. Since writing this blog I have was lucky to be passing and noticed some of the members of the chapel working working there so I stopped and asked if I could go inside for a few photos and was warmly welcomed to do so
The notice board with times
The chapel from cemetery inside the gate
The chapel is kept well maintained and the rendering and the extension on the side here look quite recent is a meeting room
The West side of the chapel, the East & North sides are close to the surrounding properties
The West side also has the small graveyard. A lot of the headstones here are quite old
the cemetery does not seem to be in use now though I did not have a lot of time to walk around the stones
The cemetery towards the high street
This view of the cemetery shows two of the older headstones the near one is of the Gibson Family children the second one has succumb to erosion over the years.
View inside the chapel from the doorway, it was pleasing to see they retained the pews
At the front the pulpit where the pastor preaches with bible on the lectern. Below is what I call the clerks desk and over to one side an organ
Over on the east wall this memorial to James Kelson and William Dormer
Above the pulpit is another memorial to Willaim Doe and Thomas Husband who funded the chapel
From the pulpit you get this view of the chapel
Before going I was shown this beautiful picture of the original building which at one time was a house, the present building still retains the look. I felt very privileged to have been allowed to look around.
Till next time have a peaceful week

...Bill unlike many that you have shown in the past. The view of the village buildings is a nice addition, something that I'd like to see for myself.
Well, it's still better to see gravestones decaying naturally than to see them hurt by vandals.
It is a well-kept chapel, very nice.
It's a lovely wee church, it always amazes me to see so few gravestones in a church yard, there must be a few churches around this area then Bill?
I'm glad to know that this chapel is still used for worship meetings and consequently is well maintained. Interesting to see the surrounding houses.
Have a good week Bill.
It's lovely, but it does have such tiny windows!
Great shots
Sweet chapel! Not as fancy as most you have shown but it has grace and dignity.
