St Peter Filkins

St Peter Filkins is  only a few miles from the last church and more of less same distance from the next church I will be visiting. I forgot to take a photo of the font in the church though I admit I cannot remember seeing one

There is not much history on this church as it is not that old

"The Gothic Revival architect G. E. Street designed the Church of England parish church of Saint Peter, and it was built in 1855–57. The parish is now part of the benefice of Shill Valley and Broadshire."

First view you get coming along the footpath

From the gate looking to the porch

South west view from the churchyard

A little further north to see the west end

East end showing the apse and vestry

Vestry and north side

The altar and simple wooden cross with candle holders

The triple east window curving around in the apse

Looking up to the painted apse ceiling

The other stained glass window of note which I think is nicer that the east windows

This window had stained glass panels in it

Looking back through the nave to the west end

There are two other memorials you can see in the church

I will take my leave with this photo of a flower vase full of lilies

Till next time may I wish you al a a peaceful week

It may be younger in years than the other churches you've featured here, Billy, but it certainly has a traditional feel. I loved the "Holy, Holy, Holy" banner, too. What a mighty and awesome God we serve!
Blessings for a peaceful Sabbath, my friend!

The church has some interesting features - I particularly like the painted apse ceiling. I wonder where the font was hiding :)

It’s a beautiful building! I love the architecture - the arched doorways and windows, the rounded end, and of course the stained glass windows.

Lovely church! This may be the newest one I’ve seen you post. It’s funny how the churchyard still has ancient looking markers. They must wear down quickly

I love the roof of this building - it's very Hagrids Hut! Thanks for linking up and sharing your snaps with #MySundaySnapshot.
