St Denny Stanford in the Vale Pt2

 

 The second of the tree churches I forgot to show in. After I found St Denny locked during my visit I emailed the churchwarden who kindly told me he would let me know when it would be open again. He did just that and It was the church did not disappoint when I went in.I would suggest you get a coffee before reading on it turned out longer that I expected

 Since my last visit Remembrance day poppy wreaths had been laid

Old tomb lids were displayed on the stone seat

With a welcome sign and the precautions against the virus still evident

Walking thorough the north aisle into the centre I looked down the church

Towards the back the tower had been partitioned off

The alter looking a lot nicer than many others I have seen

I noticed this in the corner

Two doorway one leading to a rood loft the other the chancel which looked like  a huge squint

Now back to this protrusion It must be part of the spiral stairs leading to the rood loft though I could not get in to see The window just gave light to the stairway

Around the church you will find  a few more interesting memorials

along with quite a few tombs

That cover a lot of floor space

A beautiful floral display between the north and main aisle
