St Bridgets Llansantffraed

This weeks Blog comes from St Bridget's Church at Llansantffraed in  Mid Wales. No I have been to the area many times but only the day before visiting did I realise the church was there. I had driven past many times but this time as a passenger I noticed the church. After that I knew where I was visiting the next day. Enjoy the tour of this small Welsh Country Church.

The path leads right to the porch on the church

Going past some of the old interesting headstones
St Bridget's is an old church which was restored back in the 1800's

The first thing you see on entering the porch is the war memorial of Roll Of Honour

It makes sad reading especially when you think it was a small community & still is.

First view you see when entering the church is a long nave joining straight to the chancel

Lots of light comes in through the windows
Nice wood pulpit with steps leading to it

The chancel again very  light with choir stalls

I love how the light shines in and the candles at the windows

Below is the ware memorial for the church which is near the altar

The Altar backdrop is this cross with vases of flowers

Looking back along the church from in front of the Altar

Hilm board with the Mothers Union emblem in the background

The vicars view of the church

These panels were made by an artiest for St bridges church
St Bridget with a lovely drawing by Deborah beneath

The cutting in the frame tells you all about the panels. On the right is the stone font

On top of the font you can see this small dedication

Took this photo so an unseen window at the back of the church, love the little nativity scene on the sill

Some nice kneeler's in evidence most names after local farms

Lots of drawings & paintings by the

local primary school children

Above is one of the framed photos of the church before it was restored, not east to photograph because of the reflections

St Bridges Church
West end showing the two bells the church has
St Bridges from across the North side of the Chruchyard

The churchyard with many old headstones

Fenced family graves

Headstone carvings of Hands

Broken hendstone

Star of David

Dove of peace

Private Matthews & Gunner sheen are mentioned on the plaque in the church
What I like about the Welsh Commonwealth War Graves is that they are slate

These are two of the older headstones
A family tomb with wonderful carving on
Have a peaceful Sunday

  5. How interesting that the Roll of Honour also lists if they were killed in action, wounded, died in hospital or were prisoners of war. Fantastic little church and great pictures.
