St Michael, Cathedine

Last trip to Wales this year to pack up the caravan but I did manage to visit a couple of churches I was going past. The first one is St Michael, Cathedine which I found out after closed in 2010, if you click on the link you can read the history on the church which also shows some views inside and the stained glass windows. As you may guess I will not be going inside for a look

Looking down from the top of the churchyard near the roadside

Hear with the trees in the way

The church with spire which is over on the north side

South west of the church with the porch on the west end

The tower of the church and the outline of the roof from the north aisle

Around the north east side

Looking on the north side

Finally back to the south east

The churchyard must have been really overgrown as there is evidence of someone cutting back the undergrowth reveling some of the old graves

Couple of family plots cut back

Commonwealth War Grave of L Cpl F.J.Davis of the South Wales Borderers 28th February 1943 age 32

Jones family plot which again may well have been in the undergrowth as it was at the top of the churchyard

These graves were certainly lost from view at one time

Tomb and headstones in the ivy

Tome and a fenced off plot

South of the church with an area that has been cut back

Sunken headstone which I think dates back to the 17/1800's

Looking up the North side of the churchyard looking east

South side looking east

Back down looking west

Some older headstones

Forgotten headstones and family plots near the east end of the church

East end looking north

 Last look down the churchyard

I will leave you with a collage this week. Shame the church is redundant it would have been good to look inside.

Till next time may I wish you all a peaceful week
