St Peter & St Paul Ringwood

This was literally the first church I visited in 2023 a couple of days into the new year. My wife had to go to Ringwood for some businesses and the place she was going was near the church, in fact.  we walked through the churchyard going there. As whet she was doing only too a few moments she went back to the car while I quickly took a few shots with my old iphone. Considering the history surrounding the town there is very little on the church in Wikipedia :-

 "A church in Ringwood is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It was rebuilt in the 13th century and survived until 1853, when it was completely knocked down and rebuilt. The church contains a 15th-century monumental brass of John Prophete, Dean of Hereford and York."

 

 

The church from the market square, the plaque on the lamp holder tells you it was erected by public subscription to commemorate the Jubilee of the reign of Queen Victoria in 1887

The organ in the north transept

This is the south transept which was in use as meeting place when I visited

There were a lot of stained glass windows in the chancel normal I would get a photo of each one but as my time was limited I just took a general view of both sides

There were some impressive memorials in the south transept like this one with the winged skull
