This was a last minute thought of visiting this church. I have been here before many years ago stopping off after a project I was doing at the time. I decided to return and take some more photos of the church and interior . There is little information I could find on the churches history but I did find quite a good one on the church website so rather than copy it I will leave you to follow the link to read it at St Nicholas Church Sulham
After entering the churchyard through the Lychgate you take the path through the churchyard
Coming out near the church on the North side
Going around to the South
Above a couple of views of the bell tower
Unusual to see a porch leading to the vestry
The porch leading to the church and the apse end of the church
Inside is nice and light looking down the nave
Left the chancel
Got to say one of the nice things about the church is the ceiling in the apse
The stained glass behind the altar with scenes from the life of Christ
The altar screen
Simple wooden altar cross and candle holders
Panoramic shot of the chancel and apse
View back through the nave
The wine glass pulpit which is accessed from the vestry
The view of the nave out of the pulpit
The Church font which is typical of the time the church was built sits in the belltower
Verse from the bible on the font
Looking out to the nave from the font
All the windows in the church are single lancet stile ones with stained glass
The all depict various scenes from the life of Christ
I think simple and to the point sums them up
Mind you the organ is quite different and does stand out
Left one of the carvings in the chancel and right one of the angels you can see on the organ
Right one of the many memorials you can see in the church from the Wilder family
Framed coat of arms
The triple chancel arch, not something you see often in a church
Above a painting of the Good Shepherd on the left side of the triple arch
Left one of the superb chandeliers with candle holders
And another by the South wall
At the back on the north wall you can see many memorials, mostly to the Wilder Family
Thought this one stood out for me
The nave ceiling
and one of the shields you can see
walking back outside you can go around the churchyard outside
Old wooden cross rotting away
Up on the East end of the church
Going around to the South side
Tomb near the boundary
Looking West along the churchyard
I think the tall monument is to the Wilder family
Looking back East and by the West end where are a few family Vaults along with memorials
You walk back out along this line of more recent burials to the Lychgate
I will leave you with this view of the floral display by the altar
Have a wonderful week

Very beautiful relationship and great photos.
I am delighted with the equipment of this church.
Stained glass windows are real masterpieces.
Have a nice Sunday, Bill :)

What an interesting little church - lots of unusual details make it quite special, including that wonderful organ, the metal work, paint work and so on. A lovely tour, thank you.
...Bill, you found a gorgeous one to share today. Your photos are wonderful.
What a gem of a church!
Oh I'm so glad you went in for another look Bill, so many wonderful details that definitely deserve more than one viewing. From the exterior views I imagined it would be much bigger inside. Love all the blue details, the ceiling, the alter screen, shield and all those gorgeous windows.. too beautiful, I enjoyed so much seeing them, merci beaucoup ✨
What a wonderful church - so much to see.
