Didcot Cemetery

Can't tell you much about this cemetery other than it is along Kinaston Road off between some houses. It's land locked between the housing estates and secondary school. I could not even tell you how old it is though I think it would be early 20th century. I visited after going to a church in Old Didcot .

On coming in from the drive you see a vast expanse of cemetery and over to the right I spotted a white memorial of two angels

Looking further along the cemetery was full on that side with many memorials to young children

There were a few War Graves in the cemetery.

At the far end of the cemetery you walk through to a new part that is in present day use

Lots of floral tributes on the garden of remembrance 

Nearby you find the more recent day burial

Above Lance Corporal Michael Craig Foley was killed while serving in Afghanistan

Most of this side of the cemetery is in use

Frederick S Tucker (Tommy) served in the RAF on Hurcules, Argossy's & Beverleys . I remember seeing those planes flying locally around here so no doubt Tommy was looking down on me then

On my way around I noticed some of the headstones had unsocial carvings on them

St Mary Pryton

This was the third of the churched I visited on my pre Christmas tour around and one which I finally found open lucky also that St Mary has it's own wikipedia page so I'll let you read the history on that

The entrance to the churchyard is through this very nice lych gate

that is lined either side with the roll of honour for the village

On going through you are greeted by a nice view of the church itself

The porch has a gate taking you in there which are a memorial to one of the former rectors

Inside I found the church quite dark even with the lights on. The photos have been edited to show more of the inside

Memorial to Alfred St George Hamerley KC. JP. he seemed a well travelled person and served in the Great war

and a mural thanking the lord

Christmas trees seemed to be the theme in the church as decoration with Christmas coming up. The one above has three wise men. Right a bell dated 1593

I did not venture out much in the churchyard as it was very wet and cold
